Importing and Synchronizing Files

This feature was designed to help you collaborate with others as well as reuse wireframes from other Axure RP projects.

Importing

To import an Axure RP file, click File->Import in the main menu and choose the Axure RP file to import. This is open the Import Wizard. If you want to import elements from an Axure RP 4 file, you must first open that file in Axure RP 5 and save it as a Axure RP 5 file.

Importing Pages

Select Pages on the What do you want to import? step and click Next to continue.

On the Import Pages step, check the pages that you would like to import and click Next to continue. This will take you to the Review Import Actions step.

The Review Import Actions step contains a grid of your selected pages and any masters that exist on those pages.

For each page, the import wizard attempts to identify the equivalent page in the target sitemap, most commonly by page name (if the page name is unique). If it identifies a matching page, the Action is set to Replace by default. Replace will cause the imported page to replace the specified target page. If you would prefer not to replace the target page, select the row in the grid and click Add. This will change the action to Add which adds the page to the sitemap instead of replacing an existing page. If no match is found, Add is the only option.

For each master on those pages, the import wizard performs a similar attempt to match existing masters. In this case, however, if a match is found, you have an additional option to Keep the existing master if the master already exists. Keep prevents the master from being imported at all and simply uses the existing master on the imported pages.

Click Finish to import the pages and masters.

Importing Masters

Select Masters on the What do you want to import? step and click Next to continue.

On the Import Masters step, check the masters that you would like to import and click Next to continue. This will take you to the Review Import Actions step.

The Review Import Actions step contains a grid of your selected masters and any masters that exist on those masters.

This step functions similarly to the same step for importing pages (above).

Click Finish to import the masters.

Importing Annotation Fields and Views

Select Annotation Fields and Views ion the What do you want to import? step and click Next to continue.

On the Import Annotation Fields and Views step, check the field and view that you would like to import. You have the additional option to Remove existing annotation fields. This option is available to allow you to replace the existing fields with the ones being imported. It will remove any fields that are not being imported.

Click Finish to import the field and views.

Importing Generator Configurations

Select Generator Configurations ion the What do you want to import? step and click Next to continue.

On the Import Generator Configurations step, select the configurations you would like to import in the grid and click Import to mark it for importing.

Click Finish to import the generator configurations.
