Adding Widgets to Wireframes

There are several ways to add objects to a wireframe.

Drag and Drop

The primary method for adding widgets is to drag and drop widgets from the Widgets pane onto the wireframe pane.

Widgets available in the Widgets pane are:

  • Image
  • Text Panel
  • Hyperlink
  • Rectangle
  • Button
  • Table
  • Text Field
  • Text Area
  • Droplist
  • List Box
  • Checkbox
  • Radio Button
  • Horizontal Line
  • Vertical Line
  • Button Shape
  • Image Map Region
  • Inline Frame
  • Dynamic Panel
  • Menu (Vertical and Horizontal)
  • Tree

Copying and Pasting from Axure RP

Objects can be pasted onto the wireframe pane. Widgets copied from an Axure RP wireframe pane can be pasted onto the pane. These widgets will preserve all of their properties including annotations and links when pasted.

You can quickly copy widgets in a wireframe to the same wireframe by holding down Ctrl and then beginning to drag the widgets you would like to copy. The widgets you will be dragging will be a copy of the original widgets.

Object->Duplicate (Ctrl+D) can also be used to duplicate widgets. The duplicated widgets will be directly on top of the copied widgets.

Pasting Text and Images

An image object or text panel object will be created when an image or text is pasted onto the wireframe pane. This is particularly useful when taking screenshots that you want to paste into the design or copying and pasting Visio or Illustrator drawings into the editor.

Note: A collection of Visio or Illustrator objects will be pasted as a single image. Similarly, objects can be copied from Axure RP and pasted into Visio and Illustrator.
